Try Something Different
By Deann Ware, Ph.D. ... 4 Comments
Variety is the spice of life, so make a conscious effort to try something new today!
Easy:
- Try a new food
- Watch a new TV show
- Listen to a new type of music
Moderate:
- Change a daily routine. Research shows that changing routinized habits is good for your brain–a new activity stimulates formation of new neural connections. Suggestions:
- Brush your teeth with your non-dominant hand
- Take a different route to work/school/errands
Challenging:
- Join a new group, plan travel, or sign up for a class (remember Coursera from Learn Something New?)
When is the last time you pushed yourself out of your comfort zone?

Will be going to illinois to visit my mom and family for mothers day, its been 21 years since ive seen them, first time since being diagnosed with BPD2. Excited, but nervous
I really hope it’s a great visit!
I have been trying new foods almost every day, and it has been very rewarding and a new challenge. I joined some groups whose members share my interests (although I have not met them yet), and I have made arrangements to start yoga after a 6 year hiatus!
This is great news, Ann! Thanks for sharing!
